Krishnapatnam Port unveils Port Command and Control Center
Oct 28, 2016: Krishnapatnam Port, the country’s largest all-weather; deep water port on the east-coast of India has always been proactive in adopting new and innovative technologies to enhance improved efficiencies in port security and operations. In sync with the new age initiatives, the port has established a centralised state of the art Command and control Center. Minister of State for Home Affairs, Hansraj Gangaram Ahir visited the port to inaugurate the center which was followed by his participation in the sapling plantation, an initiative taken up by the port to make Krishnapatnam Port a clean and green port, aligning to the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan initiative.
With several close watch centers placed around the port, it is imperative to have a well-founded, centralised command center to supervise the working around the port. The Command Center uses the latest technologies to monitor port security and operations. Equipped with several screens, the centre displays information on a real term basis which includes - port channel and berth activity, port railway sidings activity, warehouse stock information, RFID (related truck movement container vessel throughput) and advance vehicle tracking system among others.
The honorable minister was given a detailed orientation about Krishnapatnam Port and its performance and achievements since its inception. Besides an elaborate port visit, the minister also examined the marine infrastructure from the sea side and was amazed by the infrastructure, the scale of operations, the facilities and services offered by the port.
