VO Chidambaranar Port handles record traffic of 36.91MT

Mar 20, 2017: VO Chidambaranar Port, has crossed the previous financial year’s traffic of 36.85 million tonnes as on March 17, 14 days ahead of the completion of the current financial year. With an impressive cargo growth at 4.77 percent as compared with the same period of last financial year, the port has also created an achievement in container traffic by handling 613,617 TEUs upto March 17 and crossed the previous financial year’s record traffic of 611,714 TEUs.

The cargo that contributed to this record performance includes, coal to NTPL (64.11 percent), Wheat (433.61 percent), limestone (8.37 percent), phosphoric acid (106.42 percent), fertilizers (16.07 percent), fertilizer raw materials (7.18 percent), construction materials (28.75 percent), and containerised cargo (5.02 percent).
