September 27, 2019: Airports Authority of India (AAI) and AAI Cargo Logistics and Allied Services Company Ltd. (AAICLAS) have signed a license agreement for in-line hold baggage screening (ILBS) at Indian airports, on September 25.

The agreement will see AAICLAS carry out hold baggage screening function under the control, supervision and administration of AAI at various domestic and international airports. This is in compliance with norms of Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) ensuring safe and secure in-line hold baggage screening system.

From October 1, AAICLAS will commence operations on stand-alone screening system at Kolkata, Chennai, Ahmedabad and Calicut airports. Thereafter, it will switch over to BCAS-approved ILBS system at all airports in the country. Effective control and accountability in the screening system will be brought about by the AAI and AAICLAS agreement.

AAICLAS is an independent subsidiary of AAI that focusses primarily on air cargo handling and allied services.
