All you need to know about India’s first Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner by Vistara

March 3, 2020: On Monday, the Indian carrier Vistara unveiled India’s first Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner and its first wide-body aircraft, which arrived in Delhi on February 29, 2020, from Boeing’s production facility in Everett, Washington.

The Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner has features such as an advanced air purification system, more headroom, greater space in overhead bins, larger windows that give an increased sense of space, turbulence-dampening technology and lower cabin altitude.

March 3, 2020: On Monday, the Indian carrier Vistara unveiled country’s first Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner and its first wide-body aircraft, which arrived in Delhi on February 29, 2020, from Boeing’s production facility in Everett, Washington.

The airline celebrated its newest and 40th aircraft in a grand ceremony at the Delhi Airport. Vistara revealed its new cabin products for long-haul international flights that the aircraft will start operating soon.

“This magnificent aircraft signals the advent of world-class air travel for millions of Indians. And it also tells the world that Vistara has arrived”, said Bhaskar Bhat, chairman, Vistara.

Leslie Thng, chief executive officer, Vistara, said, “With the unveiling of our new cabin products, today’s milestone reflects Vistara’s deep-rooted commitment to providing our customers with a premium travel experience like no other carrier in India. We are confident that millions of our loyal customers will be delighted to have the choice of flying their favourite Indian airline now on long haul international routes as well.”

Vistara has new cabin products from the seats to lighting in Business, Premium Economy and Economy.

Business Class
Vistara’s Dreamliners feature 30 Business Class seats in a 1-2-1 configuration, upholstered in premium genuine leather that recline into fully-flat beds and offer direct aisle access to every passenger in the cabin. Among other features, Business Class customers enjoy 18" High Definition (HD) touchscreen in-seat TV, a Video Handset to navigate the In-flight Entertainment (IFE) system and ambient lighting in the generous stowage compartments and footwell area.

First Indian carrier to offer inflight connectivity
Vistara’s IFE system will provide passengers a rich multimedia library of nearly 700 hours of wide-ranging engaging content that includes movies, TV shows and audio compilations of various genres as well as games. It also includes a superior map experience with 3D flight path map and flight tracker. The aircraft is equipped with wireless connectivity, which will allow passengers to access the internet through onboard Wi-Fi, 3G mobile data through GSM and GPRS for SMS and MMS services, subject to necessary regulatory approvals. Vistara will be the first Indian carrier to offer inflight connectivity to its passengers.

Human Centric Lighting
Vistara’s Dreamliners come with a special wellness lighting solution called Human Centric Lighting developed by jetlite to enhance passenger well-being. The lighting considerations incorporate the chronobiological impact, corporate design and effect on colours and materials used in the cabin. By adjusting light colour and intensity throughout flights, it helps travellers to adjust their sleep schedules and arrive well-rested and feeling less jet-lagged. Vistara is Asia’s first airline to offer cabin lighting of this sort.
