Amazon launches new 7 lakh cubic feet fulfilment centre in Tamil Nadu
September 29, 2020: Gearing up for the festive season, Amazon India today announced the launch of a specialized fulfilment centre (FC) with 7 lakh cubic feet of storage space in Tamil Nadu, along with the expansion of an existing FC.
September 29, 2020: Gearing up for the festive season, Amazon India today announced the launch of a specialized fulfilment centre (FC) with 7 lakh cubic feet of storage space in Tamil Nadu, along with the expansion of an existing FC.
The new specialized FC will house products in the appliance and furniture category. Amazon will now offer a storage capacity of close to 3 million cubic feet across 5 fulfilment centres to its more than 43000 sellers in Tamil Nadu.
Abhinav Singh, director – Amazon Transportation Services, Amazon India, said, “This expansion will work as an enabler for SMBs in Tamil Nadu helping them with faster delivery of their products to a wider customer base. This festive season, health and safety of our associates and customers are of utmost priority while we work hard to deliver a delightful shopping experience.”
N. Muruganandam, principal secretary industries, Tamil Nadu, said “Chief Minister has given clear instructions to all government agencies to provide facilitation and support to all industrial and commercial establishments. We are happy to note that Amazon’s investment in Tamil Nadu will generate significant employment opportunities. I am certain these fulfilment Centres will push the agenda of Tamil Nadu’s economic growth forward. The expansion in Tamil Nadu is a part of Amazon India’s recently announced plans to add 10 new fulfilment centres and expand 7 existing sites across India. It is also a part of Amazon’s continued focus on making e-commerce seamlessly accessible to every consumer and to help optimize the day-to-day operations for Amazon’s sellers.
