Oct 17, 2016: Indian Institute of Freight Forwarders (IIFF) has begun 9th batch of IIFF/FIATA Diploma in Logistics, Shipping & Freight Forwarding. The inauguration ceremony, which was held in Mumbai, was graced by Tej Contractor, President and Nirav Thakkar, Secretary, IIFF. Also present on this occasion were Della Crasta, Course Coordinator, IIFF and Viren C Dayal of FFFAI/IIFF.

Commending the IIFF efforts pertaining to skill development Samir Shah, Chairman, FFFAI in his message underlined that with increasing threats to security, the freight Forwarders will have to be more and more driven to understand the nuances of cargo handling. It is important to remember that cargo handling is a very dynamic activity i.e. it is constantly changing. Its process, principles, documentation, etc. are changing continuously.

Contractor maintained that IIFF has set in motion some new ways of conceptualising the unique IIFF/FIATA Diploma that would benefit candidates opting for the diploma. “Diploma in Logistics, Shipping & Freight Forwarding is a complete course on Customs Clearance and Freight Forwarding, where in we will cover over 300 hours on Customs Regulations, Air, Sea, Land & Road transport, Insurance and International Conventions,” he added.

According to Dayal this is a very unique course, simply because of its tailor-made contents prepared by the Indian Institute of Freight Forwarders along with the line of FIATA (International Federation of Freight Forwarders) Minimum Training Standards. “It’s built with the idea to provide relevant experience to people who are in the industry and who would like to enter the logistics industry,” he shared. Crasta pointed out that after successfully clearing the course the student would not only gain pertinent knowledge, they would also be well qualified to practise in any part of the logistics fraternity.
