Navayuga Container Terminal crosses 500,000 TEU milestone

March 28, 2019: On March 27, Navayuga Container Terminal (NCT) handled 500,000 TEU for the first time in a Financial Year. This key milestone of half-millionth TEU was handled on vessel MV SSL Kutch.

NCT plans to expand its terminal capacity from 1.2 Million TEUs to 2 Million TEUs by the end of 2019 to be ahead of the demand

March 28, 2019: On March 27, Navayuga Container Terminal (NCT) handled 500,000 TEU for the first time in a Financial Year.

This key milestone of half-millionth TEU was handled on vessel MV SSL Kutch.

The NCT witnessed stellar volume growth of almost 9-fold increase in the 5-year period starting from a modest 58,577 TEUs in FY 2013-14.

Anil Yendluri, director & CEO, Krishnapatnam Port Co. Ltd. said, "NCT has taken giant strides in getting established as a Transshipment Hub on the East Coast of India and we are working towards making it the Hub port in the Bay of Bengal."

Jithendra Nimmagadda, chief operating officer, NCT, informed, "We are further expanding our terminal capacity from 1.2 Million TEUs to 2 Million TEUs by the end of 2019 to be ahead of the demand."

The financial year 2018-19 saw several developments taking place at the container terminal such as 5 new e-RTGs getting commissioned; increase in yard capacity to 5,000 ground slots; reefer points were increased to 200 nos; development of 30 acres of off-dock Stuffing & de-stuffing zone close to the container terminal. Also NCT got the permission to handle unshredded scrap imports.
