Vinit Kumar roped in as chairman of Kolkata Port Trust

October 10, 2017: Vinit Kumar, an I.R.S.E.E. officer of 1993 batch has taken over charge as chairman of Kolkata Port Trust. Before joining as chairman, Kumar was Chief Electrical Engineer in Mumbai Railway Vikas Corporation and was looking after the World Bank funded MUTP Project.

October 10, 2017: Vinit Kumar, an I.R.S.E.E. officer of 1993 batch has taken over charge as chairman of Kolkata Port Trust. Before joining as chairman, Kumar was Chief Electrical Engineer in Mumbai Railway Vikas Corporation and was looking after the World Bank funded MUTP Project. Kumar held administrative post of Secretary, Central Railway and gained multi-dimensional experience in general administration. Kumar worked in Central Railway in Mumbai suburban system, one of the densest suburban system in the world in maintenance and operations of rolling stock and traction installations. He also worked in Pune and Nagpur in independent charge of traction assets and locomotive workshop. He has wide experience in operation, maintenance, infrastructure development and general administration.

Immediately after taking over the charge of Kolkata Port Trust, Kumar held a meeting with the deputy chairmen and heads of departments of Kolkata Dock System and Haldia Dock Complex at Kolkata Port Trust Headquarters. He urged all the employees of Kolkata Port Trust to accept the challenges and opportunities of port and shipping world and to share all development initiatives and efforts of Kolkata Port.
