AMTOI elects Shantanu Bhadkamkar as president

September 26, 2018: The 19th Annual General Meeting of the Association of Multimodal Transport Operators of India (AMTOI) was recently held at the Royal Bombay Yacht Club, Colaba, Mumbai. On the occasion, outgoing president Nailesh Gandhi gave a detailed narrative about the achievements of AMTOI during his tenure and thanked the managing committee for their unstinted support. The audited balance sheet for year 2017- 18 was also presented by treasurer Ravi Gandhi during the meeting. Outgoing vice president RK Rubin gave the vote of thanks.

During the AGM, citations were presented to M/s. All-Cargo Logistics Ltd, Mumbai; M/s. La Freight lift Pvt.Ltd, Chennai; M/s. Star Freight Pvt.Ltd, Mumbai; M/s. Freight Systems India Pvt.Ltd, Mumbai; M/s. Safe Clearing & Forwarding Pvt.Ltd, Mumbai. These five AMTOI members have completed 25 years of service to the maritime trade.

The event saw some productive sessions on topics surrounding the winds of change sweeping the country in terms of ease of doing business, steady development in government’s push for Make in India and making it a reality with a positive change in attitude of bureaucrats in the corridors of power at the centre. Another session focused on INSTC (International North South Transport Corridor). A presentation was made for the audience, about the opportunities available for logistics players from India in INSTC. With India having invested heavily in developing Chabhahar Port in Iran, doors are open to Indian business to play a key role in availing the opportunities in the hinterlands of Afghanistan and CIS countries.

The event also saw the presence of Maharashtra State Minister for Ports, Information & Technology, Medical supplies and Civil supplies Ravindra Chavan, who assured participants that the Government of Maharashtra shall address the concerns of the trade to the best extent possible.

In the subsequent managing committee meeting, Shantanu Bhadkamkar, Xerrxes Master, George Abrao, Ravindra J Gandhi were elected as president, vice president, secretary and treasurer respectively and into the Managing Committee of AMTOI for the term 2018 -19.
