DB Schenker opens its largest warehousing hub in India at Gurugram

September 14, 2020: Schenker India today opened the first phase of its largest warehousing hub in India that spans over a space of 25,000 sq mt in Badli, Gurgaon which is close to the KMP (Kundli Manesar Palwal) expressway for efficient supply chain management within NCR and North India.

September 14, 2020: Schenker India today opened the first phase of its largest warehousing hub in India that spans over a space of 25,000 sq mt in Badli, Gurgaon which is close to the KMP (Kundli Manesar Palwal) expressway for efficient supply chain management within NCR and North India.

DB Schenker plans to become one of the largest logistics service providers in the country and double the warehousing capacity to 650,000 sq mt from the current national footprint of 325,000 by 2024. DB Schenker, the global leading logistics service provider, is a 100 percent subsidiary by the German railway company Deutsche Bahn.

The new facility will extend the services to Schenker India’s existing customer base of 1800+ in sectors such as automotive, pharma, retail and consumer, industrial, electronics and aerospace.

Contract logistics strategy
Vishal Sharma, CEO, cluster India & Indian sub-continent, DB Schenker said, “This facility in Badli is part of our broader plan to develop similar large-scale warehouses in India and double the warehousing capacity to 650,000+ sq mt from the current national footprint of 325,000 sq mt. This we target to accomplish by 2024. The development will greatly enhance DB Schenker’s footprint in the Indian subcontinent to serve all our customers in all vertical markets.”

Facilities
Equipped with digital technologies, this warehouse is fully radio frequency-enabled, equipped with 100 percent consignment scanning feature, conveyor for operation movement, automated shutters, TAPA compliant & FM Global compliant fire prevention & suppression system, Green Building certified by GBCI under EDGE platform, and access control enabled doors among a slew of many other features.

The new facility provides solutions for consolidation, storage planning and freight management for a complete end-to-end supply chain solution.
