Flipkart resumes grocery and essential services delivery after govt assurance
March 26, 2020: After suspending its operations completely due to supply chain disruption amid 21-day lockdown, e-commerce giant Flipkart on Wednesday resumed delivery of grocery and essential items as the government promised smooth functioning of e-commerce.
March 26, 2020: After suspending its operations completely due to supply chain disruption amid 21-day lockdown, e-commerce giant Flipkart on Wednesday resumed delivery of grocery and essential items as the government promised smooth functioning of e-commerce.
On the first day of three-week lockdown, disruptions were reported from delivery boys across the country as authorities including police trying to enforce lockdown.
Kalyan Krishnamurthy, CEO, Flipkart Group said “We are very grateful for the clarification provided by the government and local state authorities on the functioning of e-commerce as ‘essential service’ during the lockdown, and of them taking cognizance of the role we can play to ensure that people’s needs are met during this time, as India fights this unprecedented challenge.”
“We have been assured of the safe and smooth passage of our supply chain and delivery executives by local law enforcement authorities and are resuming our grocery and essentials services, he said.
We are grateful for the clarification provided by the government and local state authorities on the functioning of e-commerce during the lockdown. We are resuming our grocery services today.
