GMR Infrastructure ties up with Thai AirAsia to develop U-Tapao Airport

September 30, 2019: Private airport company GMR Infrastructure has partnered with low-cost carrier Thai AirAsia for the expansion project of the U-Tapao airport in Thailand.

September 30, 2019: Private airport company GMR Infrastructure has partnered with low-cost carrier Thai AirAsia for the expansion project of the U-Tapao airport in Thailand. GMR Infra is part of a consortium to bid for the $2 billion expansion project.

The consortium also includes Property Perfect Plc and Grande Asset Hotels and Property Plc., a Thai property and hotel development group.

The U-Tapao airport serves the Pattaya and Rayong and the expansion project is one of the five mega projects under the Eastern Economic Corridor plan which the Thai government is undertaking to develop the area as a prime economic zone for the ASEAN region.

GMR Group presently owns and operates Delhi International Airport and Hyderabad International Airports. It is also developing Goa’s Greenfield airport at Mopa.

Internationally, GMR Infrastructure is in partnership with Megawide Construction Corporation of Philippines to operate and develop Mactan Cebu International Airport – the second largest airport of Philippines.
