November 26, 2018: Union Minister of Commerce & Industry and Civil Aviation,Suresh Prabhurecently declared that the new Integrated Logistics and Air Cargo Policy would be announced soon. The policy would include all the minute details pertaining to logistics and cargo to the best of the satisfaction of all stakeholders.
The minister has emphasised that with Integrated Logistics and Air Cargo Policy in place, the solutions to critical issues relating to agriculture and manufacturing output and their supplies including exports would be sufficiently explored, though the possibilities of making improvement in such an Integrated Policy still exist even in future. He, however did not specify a timeframe for the declaration of the proposed policy.
Inaugurating the 4th PHD Air Cargo Summit-2018 under aegis of PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry recently, Prabhu explained that a specific department of logistics has been created in the Department of Commerce which is finalising the nitty-gritty of logistics dimensions as also cargo movement with necessary consultation process.
The government says that logistics and cargo are one of the biggest growth driven sectors in India after services and therefore, policy makers are making all efforts to facilitate them. This will in turn multiply the growth of agriculture and manufacturing as air cargo movement picks up the anticipated movement with affordable tariff structure.
Prabhu asked the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry to submit its suggestions and feedback to the government so that those could be inserted in the policy.
