HPCL introduces very-low-sulphur shipping fuel oil

January 6, 2020: Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited has introduced a new IMO-compliant very-low-sulphur fuel oil (VLSFO) for shipping.

January 6, 2020: Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited has introduced a new IMO-compliant 'Very Low Sulphur Fuel Oil' (VLSFO) for the shipping industry.

“HPCL said it has commenced delivery of fuel for ships that are compliant with International Maritime Organisation’s (IMO) low sulphur mandate,” reports Financial Express. From January 1, 2020, IMO has enforced a 0.5 percent global sulphur cap on shipping fuel where till December 31, 2019 was allowed to use 3.5 percent sulphur in fuel.

HPCL owns & operates 2 refineries producing a variety of petroleum fuels & specialties, one in Mumbai of 7.5 Million Metric Tonnes Per Annum (MMTPA) capacity and the other in Visakhapatnam with a capacity of 8.3 MMTPA.

HPCL also owns and operates the largest Lube Refinery in the country producing Lube Base Oils with a capacity of 428 TMT.

HPCL has the second largest share of product pipelines in India with a pipeline network of more than 3370 kms for transportation of petroleum products and a vast marketing network consisting of 14 Zonal offices in major cities and 128 Regional offices.
