December 19, 2018: IAG Cargo has announced a new direct service from the UK to Islamabad, Pakistan, starting from June 2019. The service will run year-round, three times a week from London Heathrow and customers will have access to up to 15 tonnes of lift per flight.

The new service will bolster IAG Cargo’s proposition in the region, adding to the cargo operator’s 300+ weekly flights into and out of Asia. The new service will see IAG Cargo return to the Pakistan market after a number of years and will be operated by the airline’s newest fleet of aircraft, the Boeing 787-8 which has a temperature-controlled hold ideal for the increased demand for pharmaceutical shipments expected on the route.

Camilo Garcia, director of sales, marketing and products, IAG Cargo said, “Islamabad is home to thriving technology, textiles and healthcare industries and the new route will provide easy access to customers from the UK and beyond. This addition builds on our strong entry points into Southeast Asia, supporting these industries by carrying products such as apparel and medical equipment. We’re proud to add Islamabad to our network of over 350 destinations globally.”

Islamabad is one of three additional routes to be introduced by IAG Cargo in 2019, joining a list of new additions including Pittsburgh in the US and Osaka in Japan respectively.
