Antonov 225 Mriya, the world's largest, longest and heaviest aircraft ever built, landed in Hyderabad, India on May 13th 2016. Mryia which was on its maiden voyage to Australia, delivered a massive 117-tonne power generator from the Czech Republic to Western Australia for a refinery. This project showcases DB Schenker’s global project logistics execution capabilities with seamless collaborations across 3 continents, a testament to the professionalism of the company’s individual experts and DB Schenker’s global network.

The airplane departed as scheduled from Prague Vaclav Airport on Thursday 12th May, and after making its first fuel and crew stop at Turkmenistan, landed Friday 13th May morning at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Shamshabad (Hyderabad). From here, it continued its onward journey, with another stopover at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, before reaching Australia on Sunday 15th May at 10 am in the morning.

Officially called the Antonov An-225 Mriya, it has a maximum take-off load of 640 tonnes and its wingspan measures 88 metres. The plane has a total of 32 wheels and 6 engines. The gigantic plane is used only once or twice a year to transport heavy loads and was developed in the 1980s to carry the Soviet version of the space shuttle on its back.
