Jupiter Electric Mobility (JEM), a subsidiary of Jupiter Wagons, India’s leading wagon manufacturing company, has received approval from The Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) for the production of its battery operated light commercial vehicle (LCV) under the brand name JEM TEZ.

The certification ensures compliance with the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, marking a significant milestone for JEM as it prepares to commence commercial production of JEM TEZ, says an official release.

"JEM is set to revolutionise the market by becoming the first to launch a 1-ton commercial electric vehicle (EV). The JEM TEZ is designed for optimal performance and efficiency, featuring cutting-edge fast charging technology that can charge the vehicle from 0 to 100 percent in approximately 20 minutes at combined charging stations, which is the fastest charging time in the industry. Additionally, the onboard charger allows the vehicle to be fully charged in less than 2 hours. The JEM TEZ boasts a certified range of 127 kilometres, making it an ideal solution for various commercial applications."

JEM TEZ also comes equipped with telematics for real-time diagnosis, maintenance and support, ensuring that any issues can be swiftly addressed, thereby enhancing reliability and efficiency of the fleet, the release added.

“We are thrilled to receive ARAI approval, which validates our commitment to innovation and excellence in the electric mobility sector," says Vivek Lohia, Managing Director, Jupiter Wagons. "JEM TEZ represents a significant step forward in our efforts to contribute to a greener and more sustainable future for India. We see a huge potential for the EV business in India, considering the rapid growth we all are witnessing across sectors. Looking at the cost benefits of EVs and sustainable approach, EVs will eventually take over the ICE market. The government’s vision of creating a green future and favourable policy support will only boost this segment further.”

Gaurav Jalota, Chief Executive Officer, Jupiter Electric Mobility adds: “With JEM TEZ, we are setting new benchmarks in the commercial EV segment. Our focus has been on delivering a product that not only meets the highest standards of quality and performance but also supports the nation’s goals of reducing pollution and emissions. We are excited to lead the charge in transforming India’s transportation landscape, and aim to lead the way for cleaner and greener mobility solutions.”

JEM plans to have a complete bouquet of electric vehicles from MCV, HCV and buses in the future, the release added.
