Maersk and Hapag-Lloyd launch Gemini cooperation
June will be the first full month in which the network is fully phased in.
Maersk and Hapag-Lloyd will launch their operational collaboration, Gemini cooperation, on February 1, 2025 which aims to deliver a flexible and interconnected ocean network.
The network will comprise around 340 vessels and will cover East/West trades, with 29 ocean mainliner services and 28 intraregional shuttle services.
Johan Sigsgaard, Chief Product Officer of Ocean at Maersk, said the company has planned the transition carefully to ensure a smooth experience for customers.
Sigsgaard said, "We are now ready to commence the phase-in of the new network. Over the last year, we have carefully planned this to ensure that all our customers experience a smooth transition into the new network."
The transition period is expected to last until late May, with vessels phasing into the new network and out of existing agreements.
June will be the first full month in which the network is fully phased in, with all vessels sailing on Gemini schedules.
Maersk and Hapag-Lloyd aim to achieve schedule reliability above 90 percent once the network is fully phased in.
