Paradip Cargo Terminal reports record steel, aluminium handling

March 11, 2021: Paradip International Cargo Terminal (PICT) announced that it broke all previous records of loading aluminium ingots for Vedanta on vessel MV FUZEYYA at PICT berth no.2 on March 5 and export loading of Steel Billets on vessel M.V. PAN KRISTINE at PICT berth no.1 on March 8.

March 11, 2021: Paradip International Cargo Terminal (PICT) announced that it broke all previous records of loading aluminium ingots for Vedanta on vessel MV FUZEYYA at PICT berth no.2 on March 5 and export loading of Steel Billets on vessel M.V. PAN KRISTINE at PICT berth no.1 on March 8.

“As customary, PICT accorded the highest priority for its customer and did extensive planning before the vessel berthed for suitable storage, feeding, and loading on the ship with utmost safety. After comprehensive planning, the vessel berthed on March 4, 2021. During the operation, PICT achieved the record loading rate of 5,757 MT in 24 hours on March 5, 2021, surpassing the previous record of 4079 MT of similar cargo on 22nd February ’2020 in M.V. INTEGRITY DAIDO, says the release.

Regarding the record handling of steel, the release says, “Jindal Steel and Power nominated vessel M.V. PAN KRISTINE at PICT Berth no.1 for export loading of Steel Billets of 30,532.055 MT for Qingdao (China) on March 8, 2021. After comprehensive planning, the vessel berthed on March 7. During the operation, PICT achieved the record loading rate of 13,946.2 MT in 24 hours, surpassing the previous record 12,993.45 MT in the same vessel on March 7. The earlier record was of 12,931.640 MT of similar cargo on July 2 2020 in M.V. BLUE BALESTIER.
