February 17, 2021: The Rajasthan Small Industries Corporation (RAJSICO) flagged off the first container train from Jodhpur (ICD Basni) to APM Terminals Pipavav for exports to various countries.

This is the first such direct train between Jodhpur (ICD Basni) & APM Terminals Pipavav.

This direct connectivity from the Inland Container Depots (ICDs) to the terminal will help in expanding the exports of commodities such as handicrafts and guar gum to the global markets from the region and extend the capacity and competency of a quick turnaround in domestic and global trade.

Jakob Friis Sorensen, managing director of APM Terminals Pipavav, said, “This is indeed an important step in expediting safe passage of cargoes for export via train. The export train service will further strengthen our competencies and service delivery to our clients. We are thankful to RAJSICO and all supporting stakeholders and we are proud to expand our import and export facilities with them”.
The port’s current annual cargo handling capacity includes 1.35 million TEU containers, 250,000 passenger cars, 2 million metric tonnes of liquid bulk and 4 million metric tonnes of dry bulk.
