Sagarmala project to boost connectivity
Inland waterways and roads leading towards coastal belt will soon be developed under the Sagarmala project, an initiative of government of India. Roads connecting the coastal belt will be declared as the national highway under the project, the details of which will be submitted to the Union government, according to an government official.
The state government has also decided to send a proposal, to develop inland waterways between Vasco-Panaji-Old Goa and Panaji-Aldona-Cortalim- Curtorim to ease the traffic on roads, to the Union government.
Speaking to TOI, Parsekar, who attended the national Sagarmala apex committee meeting on Monday said, "I will discuss this with captain of ports department, PWD and tourism department and a detailed project report will be submitted to the ministry of shipping in the next few days," he added.
