South Eastern Railway’s freight revenue increases 14.46%, thanks to iron

January 23, 2020: South Eastern Railway has earned Rs 10592.87 crore from freight sector during April-December of current fiscal, which is Rs 1338 crores more than the same period of last year, registering a growth of 14.46 percent in comparison to the previous year.

January 23, 2020: South Eastern Railway has earned Rs 10592.87 crore from freight sector during April-December of current fiscal, which is Rs 1338 crores more than the same period of last year, registering a growth of 14.46 percent in comparison to the previous year.

Volume increase

SER has loaded 126.20 million tonnes of freight during April-December of 2019 compared to 113.96 million tonnes during the same period of last year which is a growth of 10.74 percent.
SER has also exceeded Railway Board’s target for the same period by 5.20% by loading 6.24 million tonnes more than the target.

20% increase in iron ore freight

Iron ore as freight saw a growth of about 20 percent in comparison to the same period of last year. Freight loading during the period included 72.19 million tonnes of iron ore, 25.55 million tonnes of coal, 12.23 million tonnes of pig-iron & finished steel and 8.31 million tonnes of cement.
