November 26, 2019: In a high-level meeting held in Rail Bhavan through video conferencing Minister of Railways and Commerce & Industry, Piyush Goyal directed general managers of Zonal Railways to interact with industry to attract new traffic and increase freight loading.

The review meeting with Minister of State of Railways Suresh C. Angadi, Railway Board, all general managers and divisional managers also discussed safety performance, punctuality and infrastructure creation.

He asked general managers to look for new ideas and initiatives to increase earning through Non-Fare Revenue (NFR) and other coaching heads like the parcel.

“Organizational reform is the top priority and ‘Delivery’ is sacrosanct. Digital initiatives including approval of drawings should be adopted for speedy implementation of infrastructure works. GMs of Zonal railways should make all-out efforts to improve earnings and reduce expenditures. The focus should be on reducing diesel fuel consumption,” said the release.
