December 24, 2019: In a regulatory filing to BSE on December 23, the Indian carrier SpiceJet announced the re-started operations of the three B737 freighter aircraft which were grounded on December 13 due to the discovery of a potential defect.

Launched in September 2018, the air cargo service of SpiceJet, SpiceXpress, has four dedicated freighters for both domestic and international routes and plans for IPO by 2020.

“The company has grounded three of its B737 freighter aircraft on the advice of the Israeli Aerospace Industries (IAI), which converted these aircraft to freighters. During an internal examination of IAI’s manufacturing facilities, a potential defect was discovered in the process used to manufacture the 9G rigid barrier installed on these aircraft,” says the December 13 regulatory filling.

While the new filling said, “We wish to update that these three grounded B737 freighter aircraft shall return to our operations effective December 23, 2019 basis the resolution provided by IAI.”
