April 25, 2020: Vietjet Cargo, the subsidiary and cargo arm of Vietnamese low-cost airline Vietjet, appointed Group Concorde as its general sales agent (GSA) in Malaysia with immediate effect. From June 2020, the airline plans to daily operate its narrow-body aircraft Airbus A319/21 from Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City to Kuala Lumpur International Airport.

With its new agreement, Group Concorde plans to tap transhipments, garments and perishables from Malaysia to Vietnam. The GSA will be responsible for all the commercial activities for sales, marketing and promotion on Vietjet’s flight network across Vietnam and internationally such as Malaysia, China, India, Japan, Korea and Taiwan.

The GSA will also be actively controlling the pricing policy and space management, working with the cargo warehouse and ground handling agency, supervising the operations, maximizing the uplifted cargo and securing the service level commitment to clients directly.

Praveen Kumar Narayanan, vice president- business development, Group Concorde said “Even as the Covid-19 pandemic is disturbing business worldwide, the new contract is very encouraging for us. We are positively looking forward to this as Vietjet is one of the most growing low-cost carriers in Asia. We will also be responsible for all interline sales from Malaysia which will help us to boost revenue for them.”

In February 2020, Vietjet Cargo announced its plan to develop the cargo business by entering into the Malaysian market, opening a tender and inviting companies to bid.
