VO Chidambaranar Port sets new cargo handling record

January 28, 2019: VO Chidambaranar Port Trust marked a new record by clocking 59,839 MT of thermal coal in a day at North Cargo Berth -I from the vessel MV Aqua Knight.

January 28, 2019: VO Chidambaranar Port Trust marked a new record by clocking 59,839 MT of thermal coal in a day at North Cargo Berth -I from the vessel MV Aqua Knight.

With this, VOC surpassed the previous single day record of 51,413 MT of coal handled at Berth-9 from the vessel MV Ultra Gujarat. Earlier, North Cargo Berth -I has handled 48,701 MT of thermal coal in a single day on 20.03.2018.

North Cargo Berth –I has handled 3.60 MT of thermal coal during the financial year 2017-18 and 2.73 MT of thermal coal during the current financial year up to December, 2018.

Thanking the synergy exhibited by stakeholders who have contributed to achieve this record, TK Ramachandran, chairman, VOC Port Trust said that the port is continuously striving to achieve improvement in performance and productivity in order to attract more volume of traffic.
