Kale Logistics Solutions and CKTS Company Limited have automated customs clearance at Kansai International Airport using Kale's GALAXY cargo management system, which streamlines processes previously reliant on manual data entry, thus reducing delays and work duplication.
According to officials, the first phase of the deployment has automated the shipment triggering and document acceptance process. The system is being deployed in phases to ensure seamless digital integration of existing systems and processes without disrupting cargo operations.
The next phase of deployment will introduce handheld terminals for key warehouse functions, including the recording and live reporting of shipment arrivals to customs. This will further enhance the efficiency of customs clearance operations at the airport.
Kansai International Airport is a hub for major airlines in Japan, with CKTS alone handling 140,000 tonnes of air cargo annually.
GALAXY is a cloud-based cargo handling software that automates airport operations, providing real-time visibility and planning efficiency. With implementations in over 100 airports worldwide, it offers comprehensive end-to-end functions for imports, exports, transshipment, and domestic handling.
“GALAXY has been a critical asset to a wide range of our partners, and it is now gaining more ground in the far east and transforming ground handling operations in Japan,” commented Vineet Malhotra, Co-founder and Director of Kale Logistics Solutions.
