China launches road-rail freight service to Nepal from Xi’an

May 25, 2020: China Railway Xi'an Group and China Railway Container Transport together launched a road-rail freight service from Xi'an, China’s northwestern Shaanxi province to Nepal’s capital Kathmandu.

The cargo service that will take eight days to complete is expected to decrease Nepal%u2019s dependency on India for its freight transportation.

May 25, 2020: China Railway Xi'an Group and China Railway Container Transport together launched a road-rail freight service from Xi'an, China’s northwestern Shaanxi province to Nepal’s capital Kathmandu.

A train carrying cargo including PVC pipes, grouting pipes, clothes, shoes and printers left Xi'an on Friday for Xigaze in southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region, where the cargo will be transferred onto trucks and delivered to Kathmandu, reports Xinhua News Agency.

The cargo service that will take eight days to complete is expected to decrease Nepal’s dependency on India for its freight transportation.
