Germany's Wilhelmshaven port, India's FreightBro forge digital partnership

July 2, 2019: Germany’s only deep-water port Wilhelmshaven has appointed FreightBro Logistics as its official digital partner with an aim to facilitate trade and digital transformation of shipping. The deal was sealed in June-end.

The partnership makes Wilhelmshaven port, situated between the river Ems and Wesern, the first port to be a part of FreightBro's official partner ecosystem that consists of all major shipping lines, transporters, insurance companies, trade, and finance entities.

Neelam Choudhary, Indian Representative for Port of Wilhelmshaven stated, “We see this association as a great opportunity to reach out to a whole new customer base on the digital platform in India. The partnership comes as a welcome initiative at a juncture when the industry is experiencing a significant shift from traditional ways of shipping and logistics to modern and digitised methods.”

Both, Wilhelmshaven port and FreightBro will benefit from access to each other’s market and connection with stakeholders in respective countries. Forwarders on the FreightBro platform are likely to benefit from shipping through the German port.

In another association with a India-based entity, Wilhelmshaven Freight Village Container Terminal and private port operator Adani Ports & SEZ Ltd (APSEZ) recently signed an agreement to collaborate in areas that will promote trade and container shipping business between Adani Ports and Wilhelmshaven port.

Both the partnerships are aimed at strengthening trade ties between Germany and India.
