July 6, 2019: DHL Global Forwarding has opened a new logistics services facility in the Special Economic Zone (SEZ) near Chennai.

Located in Swarnbhoomi, mid-way between Chennai and Puducherry, the 33,500 square feet site will eliminate a leg of transportation between the customer’s factory and the destination market, leading to considerable savings for customers on distribution costs.

The hub will offer value-added services including packaging, labeling, embossing, sorting, inspection, strapping, kitting and assembly of complete and semi knocked-down kits. Flexible storage options and a single window customs clearance also ensure a more streamlined and quicker processing of the stored cargo.

“We continuously endeavour to provide innovative solutions to our customers and this facility is one more step towards enabling ease of business for them. Our strong expertise in this field ensures on-time performance, smooth distribution and meticulous inventory management, allowing our customers to focus on achieving their goals,” said Niki Frank, CEO, DHL Global Forwarding India.

The SEZ, developed by the New Chennai Township Pvt. Ltd. (NCTPL), is close to the thriving hub of electronics, automotive and information technology.

“With SEZs being present in larger numbers across the country, we are coming closer to our customers by providing them the platform of a Free Trade and Warehousing Zone within an SEZ. We are making it possible for our customers to choose trading and warehousing services from multiple locations at even more affordable prices,” said Amit Dawar, senior director – value added services, South Asia, DHL Global Forwarding.
