Alitalia launches weekly ‘preighter’ to Mumbai-Rome-New York route
July 1, 2020: Alitalia launched a new weekly passenger-to-cargo flight (preighter) to the Mumbai – Rome – New York route for every Sunday served by its B777 passenger aircraft without seats.

Alitalia’s first passenger-to-cargo flight flew from Mumbai to Rome and then to New York on June 21 carrying 45 tonnes of cargo.
Alitalia has been operating a daily passenger service between Rome and New Delhi with A330 aircraft since 2018 till the suspension of the international air services due to Covid-19 pandemic. Alitalia has a wide network offering connectivity to Europe, USA, South America, Africa, Asia Pacific and Middle East besides the domestic Italian destinations.
Alitalia currently operates scheduled flights to some intercontinental and short-medium haul destinations, both domestic and international. This includes limited flights to Buenos Aires, New York and Boston besides Mumbai.. Cargo charter solutions are also available, using the passenger aircrafts’ belly capacity, and special flights are organized on a spot basis.
