Indian domestic passenger traffic fell by 33% in March: DGCA report

May 2, 2020: According to the new monthly report published by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, the domestic passenger traffic in India fell by 33 percent compared to the same month last year.

India started its nationwide lockdown on March 25 and has suspended all passenger flights including both domestic and international since then.

"Passengers carried by domestic airlines during Jan to Mar 2020 were 329.12 lakhs as against 354.52 lakhs during the corresponding period of previous year thereby registering annual growth of -7.16 percent and monthly growth of 33.06 percent," says the report.
