March 24, 2021: Indian Transport and Logistics News is organising a webinar titled “Above and Beyond Tapping BLR Airport’s Potential as South India’s Hub For EXIM Cargo” on Thursday, March 25, 2021, from 3.30 pm to 5.00 pm IST.
Presented by Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru (KIAB/ BLR Airport) and supported by sGATE Tech Solutions, the virtual summit brings together stakeholders across the Indian airfreight Industry including airports, consultancy firms, manufacturers, shippers, freight forwarders, airlines and logistics companies to discuss the movement of goods in South India.
The one and half hours event will have a keynote address from Bangalore International Airport (BIAL) and South India Market Insights from Boston Consulting Group (BCG) followed by a panel discussion moderated by Skyways Group on the dynamics of the supply chain in south India and how BLR Airport is aligned with the export-import ambitions of this region.
Bangalore International Airport (BIAL), operator of BLR Airport, recently unveiled India’s first dedicated express cargo terminal at its premises. The 200,000 sq ft dedicated facility will house global courier players such as DHL Express, UPS, FedEx and Express Industry Council of India (EICI).
Bengaluru is also situated at the logistics centre to many mushrooming manufacturing centres in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities like Belagavi, Hubballi, Hosur, Mangaluru, Mysuru, Coimbatore and Salem.
The airport recorded a 26-month high cargo tonnage of 34,339 metric tonnes and the highest-ever domestic outbound tonnage of 8,117 MT in October 2020, largely driven by e-commerce shipments. It was the first Indian metro airport to report positive growth in YoY cargo volumes in September 2020 after the prolonged slump due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
