SpiceJet commences air cargo service from Guwahati

SpiceJet starts air cargo service from Guwahati

January 2, 2019: In a major boost to the air cargo segment in the northeast, SpiceJet through its subsidiary SpiceFresh, launched an air freight service, from Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International (LGBI) Airport recently. On the occasion, two flights took off for Hong Kong and Dubai , with each carrying 1000kg of mandarin fruits for export.

Commenting on commencement of the service, Assam’s Industries and Commerce minister, Chandra Mohan Patowary hoped the mandarins produced in Assam and Arunachal Pradesh would boost trading from these states in terms of exporting agri-horti produce.

Authorities from SpiceJet said that its flights will go to Hong Kong with 18 tonnes of freight between Guwahati and Kolkata daily, while both the Hong Kong and Dubai routes will be connected via the company’s international network.

The event was jointly organized by the State Industries and Commerce department, Airports Authority of India (AAI) and AAI Cargo, Logistics and Allied Services Company Limited.
