August 12, 2021: TagBox is in negotiations with three major Indian airports to deploy its solution, Adarsh Kumar, co-founder and chief executive officer announced in the latest episode of Logistics Tech Dialogues, presented by Kale Logistics Solutions.
The technology is currently available at the Menzies Aviation Bobba Bangalore (MABB), one of the cargo terminals at Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru.
Kumar said the idea of TagBox germinated keeping in view the key challenges faced by the pharmaceutical industry regarding the end-to-end visibility of the product. TagBox gives visibility of the product to the shipper from the time it starts from their facility, warehouse or manufacturing unit to the terminal, and eventually to the aircraft. It thus creates a single platform for shippers, freight forwarders, and other stakeholders to monitor the shipment’s temperature, location, etc. and has a collaborative approach to solving any issues that might exist in the supply chain.
The company, which received the initial funding from TVS Motors in 2019, plans to raise funds next year for expansion outside the Asia Pacific region.
Commenting on future developments, Kumar said, “We are currently focusing on two product lines - critical supply chains and man-machine intersections. Some new use cases, which we are tackling, include employee health and safety. So we are creating a complete solution around asset-, people- and product-tracking. Meanwhile, from a geographical perspective, we continue to focus on the Asia Pacific.”
The company has been actively working in the high tech industry segment for a couple of years. Though predominantly focussed on India, it is present in Singapore, Indonesia, and Malaysia.
As the demand for supply chain visibility accelerated during the pandemic, digital logistics solution providers witnessed a boom in customers. “We are seeing an uptick in demand across different sectors,” Kumar said. “We are also working with one of the manufacturers for vaccine tracking. So, these kinds of opportunities have come up. We did contact tracing for manufacturing and warehousing industries last year and helped them safely reboot after the lockdown and made sure they can operate their supply chains seamlessly. This demand will continue for the next three to four years.”
TagBox is providing its BoxLens solution to Dr. Reddy's Laboratories for Sputnik V Covid-19 vaccine in India for which sensors will go into every single shipper box. Each box will get visibility from the warehouse till it reaches the hospitals.
On the data security front, ensuring that the information only reaches the relevant custodians in the logistics value chain, Kumar explained, “All the data exchange that happens between the sensor, app, gateways are encrypted. Later, it reaches the cloud where we use security protocols to secure the data before it is shown on the dashboard to the relevant parties. All the accesses on the smartphone, etc have specific user credentials and validation by OTP.”
TagBox is working with over 40 organisations across India and APAC to solve problems like product quality and compliance, end-to-end traceability and operational efficiency in their supply chains. Its BoxLens platform has in-built features like real-time alerts for temperature excursions, unauthorised truck stops and door opening, route adherence and ETA for the next stop.
Additionally, BoxLens provides various analytics and reporting modules that help identify systemic failure points in the supply chain and thus enable improvement in KPIs.
