Zurich Airport wins bid for second airport in Delhi

November 29, 2019: Flughafen Zürich AG, the owner and operator of Zurich Airport, emerged as the biggest bidder to design, develop and operate the new Noida International Airport at Jewar, 80 kms south to the capital city along the Yamuna Expressway towards Agra.

The Swiss company is expected to invest Rs4662 crore for the construction in four years.

November 29, 2019: Flughafen Zürich AG, the owner and operator of Zurich Airport, emerged as the biggest bidder to design, develop and operate the new Noida International Airport at Jewar, 80 kilometres south to the capital city along the Yamuna Expressway towards Agra.

Delhi International Airport, Adani Enterprises and Anchorage Infrastructure Investments Holdings were the other bidders for this Airport.

The Swiss company is expected to invest Rs4662 crore for the construction in four years after which the 5000-acre airport will be handling 12 million passengers per year and is expected to contain the rising traffic growth in the National Capital Region (NCR).

Flughafen Zürich AG will be paying a fixed passenger fee to the state-owned authority from the sixth anniversary of commissioning of the new airport.

Flughafen Zürich AG is currently involved in eight airports in Latin America. In addition to four airports in Brazil and two in Chile, the Zurich airport operator is engaged in the management and operations of the airports in Bogotá and Curaçao. Besides India, countries such as Indonesia and the Philippines are among the future focus markets for the operator of Zurich Airport.
Earlier in 2017, the Zurich Airport had successfully sold its shares in Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru.
